Get the Most Out of Your Toolkit

Our complete social and emotional learning toolkit
includes more than just a board game.
Make the most out of it with these fun and engaging ways
to maximize learning communication and social skills.
CLASSIC
Everyone answers the same question on the Power-Up Discussion Card. The person whose turn it is then picks the best answer and gives him/her the card. The person who has the most cards at the end wins.
IF YOU WERE I
Pick a City Watch Scenario Card, then have everyone else answer the question as if they were you on how to respond to the situation with thoughts-feelings-actions. The person whose answer is closest to the truth wins the round

ALTERNATE UNIVERSE
Draw a Scenario Card from the deck. Role play the scene as if you were someone else. Place yourself in someone else’s shoes and discuss what you think that person might think, feel, and do.
HEART
ATTACK
Two player game. Decide on an emotion to attack. Each person draws 20 Power-Up Discussion Cards and takes turns to show the cards quickly. When the “emotion”card shows up, slap on the card and the opponent will answer the question on the card.
IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT
Use the Emotion Cards during emotional moments: When someone is experiencing an intense emotion (i.e., tantrum, sadness, anger, frustration, etc), ask them to choose a card that best represents how they feel. This can open up a conversation about their emotions and what might have caused them.
EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE
Place all the Emotion Cards on the table. Players take turns to select a Scenario Card. Players race to find the appropriate emotions to match the characters’ feelings. Players then take turns to explain why they’ve selected those emotions. Each round, the player who has gotten the most emotion cards wins.
RUMOR HUMOR
Each player draws 1 Emotion Card from the deck. One player starts with a sentence/paragraph that involves the emotion they have drawn. The next player continues the story with their emotion card and sentence/paragraph. Each round completes a story.
STORY TOWN
Draw 3-5 Emotion Cards from the deck. Make up a story or draw pictures together that involve the emotions on the cards. This helps players connect emotions to real-life situations and understand how people react differently.
HOPE TO COPE
Select an Emotion Card and discuss healthy ways to cope with it. For example, for "frustrated," you can talk about deep breathing or counting to ten. Encourage players to brainstorm their own coping strategies
